Ray-Ban
Ray-Bans were first created in 1936. The idea of Ray Bans began some years earlier when Lieutenant John A. Macready returned from a balloon flying adventure and complained that the sun had permanently damaged his eyes. He contacted Bausch & Lomb, asking them to create sunglasses that would provide protection and also look elegant. The brand experienced a resurgence in popularity after being featured prominently in Top Gun, and some of the classic looks like the Aviator and the Wayfarer are originally RayBan designs.
Maui Jim
Maui Jim sunglasses were born on the Hawaiian island of Maui nearly 30 years ago. A remarkable lens that not only has the finest polarising filters but also exclusive technology that replaces and renews the natural colours that are dulled by traditional sunglasses. Sunglasses should be about protection, comfort and an enhanced visual experience: Maui Jim delivers just that.
Maui Jim has mastered colour and clarity like no other sunglasses company on earth. The company’s reputation is based on the development of advanced technologies for double and single gradient lenses in plano and prescription that reduce 100 percent of harmful UVA and UVB rays and cut glare from above, below and behind each lens by 99.9 percent. Only Maui Jim uses up to nine layers of protection around each lens, including the company’s proprietary polarized film, PolarizedPlus2®, that produces true, vivid colours.

And don’t forget that any frame, even if it’s not a sunglass, can be fitted with tinted or polarised lenses – so if you have a favourite pair of spectacles that you think would look good as sunglasses, or if you like one of the ‘normal’ glasses we stock but would prefer them as sunglasses, prescription or otherwise, that’s easily doable!
