Ray-Bans were first created in 1936. The idea of Ray Bans began some years earlier when Lieutenant John A. Macready returned from a balloon flying adventure and complained that the sun had permanently damaged his eyes. He contacted Bausch & Lomb asking them to create sunglasses that would provide protection and also look elegant.
Maui Jim sunglasses were born on the Hawaiian island of Maui nearly 30 years ago. A remarkable lens that not only has the finest polarising filters but also exclusive technology that replaces and renews the natural colours that are dulled by traditional sunglasses. Sunglasses should be about protection, comfort and an enhanced visual experience. Maui Jim delivers just that.
Maui Jim has mastered colour and clarity like no other sunglasses company on earth. The company’s reputation is based on the development of advanced technologies for double and single gradient lenses in plano and prescription that reduce 100 percent of harmful UVA and UVB rays and cut glare from above, below and behind each lens by 99.9 percent. Only Maui Jim uses up to nine layers of protection around each lens, including the company’s proprietary polarized film, PolarizedPlus2®, that produces true, vivid colours.
PRESCRIPTION, ONLY BETTER.
The best. Everyone expects it and Maui Jim delivers it. After all, there’s no need to compromise quality when it comes to prescription sunglasses. With our own 24,000 sq/ft state of the art, fully automated lab, we can ensure that each lens is crafted with rigorous attention to optical excellence – combined with all the advantages of PolarizedPlus®2 technology.
